About the class
The Miracles Counseling Center’s Trauma Recovery Center is offering the Nurturing Parenting Program (NPP). NPP is a family-centered trauma-informed initiative designed to build nurturing parenting skills as an alternative to abusive and neglecting parenting and child-rearing practices.
Our Nurturing Parenting Treatment Programs are designed for families referred for parenting education by the Department of Children and Family Services/Social Services/Mental Health for child abuse and neglect and/or family dysfunction. Our classes are tertiary level programs that focus on treating abusive and neglecting parent-child or parent-teen dysfunctional interactions through a process called “re-parenting.” In re-parenting, parents increase their understanding of the abuse and neglect they experienced as children and how these parenting beliefs and patterns were passed on to their children. The class sizes are small so we can focus on the challenges that you are facing in your co-parenting relationship.
What do you have to do?
These classes work best when you have a desire to change, a willingness to do a little homework, the ability to be part of the group, and some curiosity to try new ways of behaving. If this sounds like you, I hope you’ll join one of the classes.
You will learn how to:
• Communicate and stay connected throughout a conflict with your child.
• Build stronger relationships with your children.
• Set clear, respectful limits for your children.
